The scenery is spectacular year round; I particularly like the fall when the colors are amazing. There is a beautiful walk along the edge of the reservoir. To get there, take Route 28W from Woodstock for about 3 miles, turn left onto Reservoir Road (the road takes you through the middle of the reservoir - don't worry above water!), turn left at the end of the road (since 9/11 you can no longer turn right), keep left at the fork to continue on to BWS road. After about 1/2 mile you will see an entrance on your left through the woods which leads to a rotary and parking lot. From here you can bike or walk alongside the reservoir. Click here for a map of the route. Please be aware that to ensure that NYC water is protected, only limited activities are permitted around the reservoir and dogs are not allowed.
